Fire Programs Oklahoma State University
The purpose of this Web server is to encourage exchanging information with the public while exploring new technology. Fire Programs is a group of fire service related departments within the College of Engineering Architecture and Technology at
Oklahoma State University. Each of these departments either directly supports the fire service or influences fire service
activities in the United States, Canada, and abroad.
University of New Brunswick Fire Science Center The Fire Science Centre was established in 1967 as an interdisciplinary program that includes any individual or group
interested in fire science. At present departments associated include Biology, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Civil
Engineering, Forest Engineering, Forest Resources, Mechanical Engineering and Surveying Engineering.
The mandates of the Centre are to support graduate students in fire science, to undertake research that will lead to furthering
knowledge in the field of fire science and to play a consulting role with government and industry.
Facilities include a temperature and humidity controlled laboratory which contains a wind tunnel, apparatus for conducting
ignition tests, fuel storage facilities, a cylindrical test furnace with numerous specially designed probes, a cold model chamber
for studying mixing patters, and a pressure liquefied tank simulator.
The Fire Science Centre works through departmental graduate programs to support research in the discipline. Under the
auspices of the Centre, graduate work is carried out leading to MScE and PhD degrees in Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, and
Survey Engineering. MSc and PhD programs in Biology, and MScF, MF, and PhD degrees in Forestry. Individuals with other
backgrounds can register for a special course of study leading to a graduate degree in Science or Engineering.
