Subject: Interpol CD-ROM 'STOLEN WORKS OF ART'
A new step in the fight against art thief is done today trought the
release of a new CD-ROM, Interpol " Stolen Works of Art ".
This CD-ROM
is the result of close co-operation between Interpol, the
International Criminal Police Organisation and Jouve Diffusion. This
CD-ROM contains the Interpol database of stolen works of art,
representing yet over 14,000 works of all kinds, most of which include
photographs.
Designed for art professionals, police and customs services, this easy
to use CD-ROM allows for an unlimited number of checks in the Interpol
stolen works of art database.
Functionalities: an extremely powerful search system enables you to
identify works using one or more criteria (title, type of object,
artist, size, signature, material, manufacturing techniques,
description, etc.). A phonetic system helps you to find misspelled
artists names. It is possible to display the available photograph or
photographs and use different zoom functions to view a detail. It is
also possible to annotate a sheet or mark it so that it is easier to
return to.
The product works on a Windows 3.1, 95, 98 or NT Pentium. The current
version include English, French and Spanish languages as well with
some of the Babylon's dictionaries to allow translations "by a single
click" from english words in other languages (the dictionaries exist
in Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese and
Spanish languages and can be download at www.Babylon.com)
The CD-ROM, and its every other months upgrades for one year, cost 498
US$ or 480 Euro (including shipping, excluding taxes) and can be
purchased directly at Jouve. A discount price is available for police
and customs services of the countries participating in the Interpol
organisation.
